Chord Electronics Qutest System Stand (QSS) at Vinyl Sound Toronto Canada

The Chord Electronics Qutest System Stand (QSS) is an official Chord Electronics modular equipment stand, available at Vinyl Sound in Toronto, Canada. Precision-machined in England from a single billet of CNC-machined aircraft-grade aluminium with black anodising, the QSS is the purpose-designed stacking solution for the Chord Qutest range, accommodating the Chord Qutest DAC, Chord Anni desktop integrated amplifier, and Chord Huei phono stage in a modular column or side-by-side configuration. Pre-assembled and supplied with a conductive metalised heat pad for thermal management, plastic corner guards for product protection, and black rubber feet for surface isolation, the QSS is the tidiest and most thermally considered way to house a complete Chord Qutest desktop system.

Considered Industrial Design: Thermal Assistance and Full Connector Access

The Qutest System Stand is designed with two primary functional priorities beyond aesthetics: heat management and connectivity access. The conductive metalised heat pad at the base of each stand conducts heat away from the seated Qutest range component, assisting thermal stability during extended listening sessions and preventing heat accumulation in a tightly stacked configuration. Plastic corner guards at each mounting point protect the precisely machined aluminium surfaces of the seated component from contact marks. The stand geometry maintains full unrestricted access to all rear-panel connectors on the housed unit, including USB, BNC, RCA, optical, and power connections, so cables can be routed and adjusted without removing the component from the stand. One QSS is required per component: a complete three-component Qutest system comprising the Qutest DAC, Anni amplifier, and Huei phono stage requires three stands for a fully stacked installation, creating a compact three-tier column of approximately 162mm in total assembled height. Components lower directly into the stand from above for a secure and level seated fit.

Key Features

  • Purpose-Designed for Qutest Range: Accommodates the Chord Qutest DAC, Chord Anni desktop integrated amplifier, and Chord Huei phono stage. One stand is required per component.
  • CNC-Machined Aircraft-Grade Aluminium with Black Anodising: Machined in England from a single aluminium billet with the same manufacturing standard as the Qutest, Anni, and Huei themselves.
  • Conductive Metalised Heat Pad: Assists thermal management by conducting heat away from the base of the seated component, reducing heat accumulation in a stacked configuration.
  • Plastic Corner Guards: Protect the precisely machined aluminium surfaces of the housed component from contact marks at the mounting points.
  • Full Rear Connector Access: Stand geometry maintains unrestricted access to all rear-panel connections on the seated component.
  • Pre-Assembled: Supplied ready to use with no assembly required.
  • Modular Stacking or Side-by-Side Configuration: Multiple stands can be stacked vertically or arranged side-by-side depending on space and display preference.
  • Black Rubber Feet: Provide surface isolation and prevent the stand from moving on the desk.
  • Lowering Installation: Each component lowers vertically into the stand from above for a secure and level fit without lateral sliding.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Chord Electronics Qutest System Stand?

The Chord Electronics Qutest System Stand (QSS) is a modular equipment stand precision-machined in England from a single billet of aircraft-grade aluminium with black anodising, designed to house the Chord Qutest DAC, Anni desktop integrated amplifier, and Huei phono stage individually or as a stacked system. Each stand includes a conductive metalised heat pad for thermal management, plastic corner guards for product protection, and black rubber feet. One stand is required per component, and multiple stands can be stacked vertically or arranged side-by-side. The QSS is pre-assembled and sold individually.

How many QSS stands do I need for a complete Qutest system?

One QSS stand is required for each component in the Qutest range. A complete three-component system comprising the Chord Qutest DAC, Chord Anni desktop integrated amplifier, and Chord Huei phono stage requires three QSS stands for a fully stacked installation. A two-component system (Qutest and Anni, for example) requires two stands.

Does the QSS allow access to rear-panel connections while in use?

Yes. The Qutest System Stand is specifically designed to maintain full unrestricted access to all rear-panel connectors on the seated component, including USB, BNC, RCA, optical inputs and outputs, and the 12V power connection on the Huei. Components do not need to be removed from the stand to connect or disconnect cables.

What is the conductive heat pad in the QSS for?

The conductive metalised heat pad at the base of the QSS assists in conducting heat away from the bottom surface of the seated Qutest range component. In a tightly stacked configuration, heat can accumulate between components; the heat pad helps manage this by providing a conductive thermal pathway between the component and the stand's aluminium body, which dissipates heat into the surrounding air. This contributes to stable long-term operating temperatures for the housed components.

Is the QSS compatible with any other Chord Electronics products besides the Qutest range?

The QSS is dimensionally designed for the Chord Qutest DAC, Anni desktop integrated amplifier, and Huei phono stage, all of which share the same compact chassis footprint. It is not compatible with the Hugo range (Hugo TT 2, M Scaler), the Ultima series amplifiers, or the Choral range (DAVE, BLU MKII, Etude), each of which has its own dedicated stand system.

Where can I buy the Chord Electronics QSS in Toronto or Canada?

The Chord Electronics Qutest System Stand is available at Vinyl Sound, an authorised Chord Electronics dealer located in Toronto, Canada. Vinyl Sound carries the complete Chord Qutest desktop ecosystem including the Qutest DAC, Anni amplifier, Huei phono stage, and QSS stands, and can advise on the number of stands required for a complete installation. The absolute bottom line in performance and price.
Digital Storage Capacity: 128 GB, Color: Black
This phone is the bottom line. It's just enough RAM. A nice OLED display. And that is about it. This dog was heaving like it was running a marathon after set up and a restart. Normally I'd buy a refurbished Pixel, but the prices and support dates are out of my budget sadly. Just playing around to see how the menus looked, the UI crashed after hanging for about 45 seconds. I can't say I hate it, there's much worse out there. Hence I'd call this the bottom line, lowest standard.

good
Digital Storage Capacity: 128 GB, Color: Blue
For the price, I found this to be a very complete phone. The screen looks good, the battery lasts a long time throughout the day, and it runs smoothly for everyday tasks. I liked that the initial setup was easy and that the device responds quickly for calls, apps, and social media. A great option for anyone looking for a reliable phone without spending too much.

6 years of support, but set your expectations.
Digital Storage Capacity: 128 GB, Color: Blue
I was a Moto user. Before moving over to Android, I was among the 0% that used a Windows Phone. My needs have been modest, so the idea of shelling out nearly a thousand or more for a phone never crossed my mind. What is important is ongoing support, which rules out every cat-sat-on-a-keyboard brand. It’s also the reason why I switched from Moto over to Samsung; offering 6 years of OS and security support (from initial release) on an entry-level class device is a HUGE PLUS. In the case of this A17, that’s all the way into August 2031. This is NOT a fast phone by any means, however. Playing media and general browsing? Sure. Playing video? Fine. Lots of videos at once like on some social media platforms? Not so much. Taking videos? It's only 1080p. More immersive games? I wouldn’t bother. Between the processor and the 4GB of RAM, some patience will be necessary, especially for folks running lots of apps. There is more underlying “bloat” here; turning off the animations under developer mode along with unneeded services improves the experience a bit, however. The A17 phone case I purchased separately for this arrived labeled as an A26; the glass screen protector as an A16, so apparently this phone shares a very similar design with those models. No 3.5mm jack but there is a micro SD slot which it shares with the SIM tray. The AMOLED screen is a huge plus; great contrast and sharpness, which is NOT common in this entry-level class. It does have NFC for tap to pay, but no wireless charging. Will this win any benchmarks? No. Folks expecting sports car performance at an economy car price will be extremely disappointed. This does not nor will not compare to phones that cost more. However, if your needs are modest, there’s no need to spend $$$ either when this will do the job. --- Edit: Just for added confirmation about ongoing support (or lack thereof), the Moto G17 that was just released at the end of January 2026 does NOT promise ANY OS updates at all. That's a stark contrast to the A17 here with a promise of 6 years of OS and security updates. Edit 2: Wireless Android Auto connectivity has become tedious with the aftermarket generic Android head unit on my vehicle, with the phone often forgetting to connect. The real culprit is that those units are often running hardware and an OS older than what they advertise; it may say 15 on the surface but underneath, it's actually running like 10 or even older. Getting a USB wired-to-wireless CarPlay/Android Auto adapter fixed that; the phone has remembered to connect every time since. For less than $10, it was worth taking that chance.

Bright Screen, Easy to Use, and Reliable for Everyday Life
Digital Storage Capacity: 128 GB, Color: Blue
I’ve been using the Samsung Galaxy A17 5G for a bit now, and overall I’m really happy with it. It feels like one of those phones that quietly does almost everything well without costing a fortune. The first thing I noticed was the display. The large AMOLED screen is beautiful. Colors are vibrant, text is crisp, and it makes everything from scrolling to watching videos feel more high end than I expected. It’s easily one of my favorite features. This phone is also very easy to use and user friendly. The layout is straightforward, settings are easy to find, and everything just makes sense without a steep learning curve. It’s a great option if you want something simple to navigate without feeling overly basic. Performance has been solid for everyday tasks like texting, browsing, and using apps. One thing I did notice is that right after powering it on, the screen can feel a bit sluggish and slightly unresponsive. It seems like the system and background apps are still loading. Once everything finishes starting up, though, it runs smoothly and works great. The camera is another nice surprise. In good lighting, photos come out sharp with natural looking color. Outdoor shots especially look really nice. Low light is a bit hit or miss, but still decent for casual use. Battery life easily gets me through a full day, and the fast charging is really convenient when I need a quick boost. I also like the durable feel of the phone. It’s slim but doesn’t feel fragile, and the expandable storage is a huge plus if you store a lot of photos or apps. A couple minor downsides: it can slow down a little if too many apps are open at once, and low light photos aren’t its strongest area. Overall: This is a dependable, user friendly phone with a gorgeous screen and solid everyday performance. It’s a great choice if you want something simple, functional, and comfortable to use without spending a lot.
