The safety release valve near the top of the lower chamber is a major factor in controlling the quality of your espresso as it controls the pressure at which the water is delivered to the ground coffee in the filter.
To clean simply unscrew the 2 chambers, rinse with clean water, never use soap and allow to dry before reassembling them.
Not dishwasher safe. Handwash recommended.
