Featuring rare interviews with Comanche, Choctaw and Navajo code talkers, this easy-to-read non-fiction book recounts how American Indian soldiers from twenty different tribes used their native languages to send coded military messages in two world wars that were never deciphered by the enemy and helped win American victories.

Providing useful historical and cultural context, The Language of Victory first discusses the evolution of military communications that ultimately led to the 20th century use of electronic communications. The author then briefly examines American Indian historical, cultural and linguistic developments prior to WWI. This background is followed by accounts of the history of the Code Talkers in two world wars, including information derived from interviews with code talkers conducted in 1992. Then the book traces the slowly unfolding recognition that finally came to these veterans decades later, culminating in the Code Talker Recognition Act of 2008 that mandated the creation of Congressional medals that were awarded to these men and the tribes posthumously.

In the book's final chapter, the author contrasts the changing federal government policies that transformed American Indian languages from cultural relics worthy only of the trash bin to valued gems demanding preservation, and he reflects on the question of how America's history might have been altered if missionaries and government agencies had been successful in eliminating America's indigenous languages.

The Cover Art: The original cover art, based on the Plains Indian ledger style, was created by Michael Horse, an internationally known actor and artist of Yaqui, Apache and Zuni Indian descent originally from Arizona. About the author: Gary Robinson, a writer and filmmaker of Cherokee and Choctaw descent, has spent more than twenty-five years telling the stories of American Indian people in print and television. His previous non-fiction military history book, From Warriors to Soldiers, examines the history of American Indians in the U.S. military from the Revolutionary War to modern times. He currently lives in the California's Santa Ynez Valley.

Disappointed Customer
Color: Light Grey, Size: Small
It was to large but it was for his prom but we still had to use. Measure did add up to his exact size. Didn’t have time to send it back.

Impressive Quality and Style – A Perfect Prom Look!
Size: Small, Color: Maroon Collar Black
I purchased the YND Men's 3-Piece Slim Fit Tuxedo Suit Set for my son's prom, and I couldn’t be more thrilled with the results. From the moment he put it on, it was clear this suit was something special. The fit was absolutely sharp and flattering, perfectly hugging the frame without being too tight — just the right balance of tailored and comfortable. The material feels high-quality and looks even better in person — smooth, sleek, and polished. It held its shape beautifully throughout the night and gave my son a sophisticated, modern look that turned heads and earned him plenty of compliments. You can tell this suit is well-made with great attention to detail, from the stitching to the lining. It easily rivals much more expensive brands. I’m so impressed with the value and style that I’ll definitely be purchasing from this company again. If you're looking for a tuxedo that delivers elegance, confidence, and exceptional quality without breaking the bank — this is the one!

A Good Value
Size: Small, Color: Black, Size: Small, Color: Black
The suit is a good value. Ordered for senior prom for my son. He is 5’10 athletic build and between 165-170 lbs so we ordered the small since he wanted a slim fit and nothing that would be very loose. The suit fit him great, not too snug , the jacket has a satin finish on the lapel and edge of pockets which gives it an elevated elegant look. The jacket has an interior pocket but the rest are just for aesthetic as they do not open. I did have to cut a small slit in order to use the pocket square. The pants fit like a glove but you may want to size up if you are very muscular. The material is light weight which is perfect for prom season or warmer weather. The vest was oversized but we were not planning to use the vest anyway. Quality: several hanging threads that needed to be snipped but no big deal, the stitching was even and straight and the interior had piping of a complimentary fabric. After a full night of dancing and activities he did not have any issues with stitching breaking or splitting of seams. The buttons are black with a silver edge which give the suit some sophisticated flair but keep this in mind if you plan to style with gold. Overall, I am very pleased with this suit considering it’s price point. It’s perfect for a teen that will attend various senior events. Shipping took 2 weeks so plan accordingly and pay attention to the expected delivery date.
