Here we go back to the pre-war 1930s period to launch the Buick Special Convertible from 1936. The Buick Special was introduced as the Series 40 in 1930 but by 1936 and with an upgrade to Series 50, the name was changed to 'Special', the first time the company had used names instead of simple serial numbers. It was available a 2-door coupe, 2 or 4 door saloon, 4-door station wagon (1941-42 only) and a 2 or 4 door convertible.

We have chosen to model the 2-door version and it makes its first entrance as an open topped car in black with contrasting bright red interior, brown dashboad and beige hood in the down position. The whitewall tyres are also given a beige and silver finish. Registered as 36-388 from Saskatchewan, the number plate is located off-centre on the front wing and similarly on the rear behind the wheel arch. The large radiator grille at the front is masked silver and black with additional silver trim to bumpers, bonnet mascot, door handles and lights. The spare wheel housing also in black, sits on both sides behind the front wheel arches.
