Wi-Fi 6 - Fast & Efficient
The DrayTek VigorAP 805 is a Wi-Fi 6 AX3000 access point with 2.5Gbps Ethernet capability. The latest wireless standard dramatically improves performance, handling efficiently multiple users and devices. The technology is partially based on LTE features used on mobile networks where many connections are managed by a single AP (mast).
This powerful access point can handle even more SSIDs. You can configure up to 8 for each wireless band (16 SSIDs in total).

With more available capacity being essential for the volume of data traffic generated by voice, video, and gaming applications, Wi-Fi 6 utilises the following key technologies:

Higher Capacity with OFDMA and Multi-User MIMO
Less Interference with BSS Colouring
Dual-Band Performance Boost with 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi 6
Improved Security with WPA3
Better Battery Life on Mobile Devices with Target Wake Time

Higher Capacity with OFDMA and Multi-User MIMO
A key feature of Wi-Fi 6 is OFDMA, short for Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access. 4G networks and now Wi-Fi 6 use this to provide data to many users at once.

With previous Wi-Fi standards, wireless communication simply sent to one client, then moved on to send to the next. This becomes more inefficient as the number of clients connected increases, users wait longer for their turn, causing more packet loss, laggy video and buffering.

OFDMA splits up the channel bandwidth and uses complex scheduling in the background to determine which users need more resources at any one moment. Users watching videos would be allocated more, while a phone just checking email or on a voice call would be assigned less, just as much as each one requires.

Less Interference with BSS Colouring
Managing interference with wireless networks is often difficult, whether conflicting with neighbouring networks or managing channel assignment for wireless networks spanning multiple APs; If another network is transmitting on the same channel, this will cause drops in performance for everyone, while clients and access points wait for the air to clear before sending.

Wi-Fi 6 introduces a feature called 'BSS Colouring', with BSS being the Basic Service Set, or Access Point. Each Wi-Fi 6 wireless network adds a unique identifier/number to its transmissions. Wi-Fi 6 clients can use this to determine whether transmissions are coming from their own network or another. If the detected transmission doesn't match the BSS Colour of the wireless network, the client can choose to ignore the transmission if it's far enough away.

The result is better performance and better handling of interference, where wireless channels are shared with other networks.

Dual-Band Performance Boost with 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi 6
The 802.11ax standard brings performance improvements to both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, giving better performance to both. The previous 802.11ac Wi-Fi 5 standard only brought its performance improvements to the larger 5GHz band.

This allows for better performance at range and through walls with 2.4GHz frequency, while still having all the benefits of Wi-Fi 6 technology. Allowing the VigorAP and its clients to make full use of the bandwidth available.

2.5 Gigabit and 1 Gigabit Ethernet Ports
The VigorAP 805 has two Ethernet ports. The first interface can handle up to 2.5 Gigabit throughput that can be linked with a faster device such as the Vigor 2136 router. The additional 1 Gigabit Ethernet port can be used for a daisy-chain connection to another access point or as a wired link to a local printer or server.

In Mesh and Range Extender modes, the VigorAP 805 bridges its wireless uplink to the LAN ports, providing fast connectivity to each additional device connected, without the need for an additional network switch or a long cable run.

Desk Form Factor Design
The VigorAP 805 is designed to be deployed in every office and SOHO environment. Thanks to its modern look, it should blend well in most places and locations including desks, shelves, and meeting rooms while providing outstanding performance.

You can expand wireless coverage quickly and easily with the VigorAP 805, just plug it into a power socket, and connect to the LAN via an Ethernet cable or over the wifi. The dual band antennas are hidden within the VigorAP and its small size makes it inconspicuous in any room.

The indicator LEDs of the VigorAP that normally show the VigorAP's status, can be disabled or scheduled to avoid them lighting up a room.

Almost the perfect watch
Color: Black/Blue
I have owned three earlier models of these things going back to the days when I actually ran road races. They are brilliant pieces of work. My only complaint of them was that the start/stop/split button(s)--there were two on the older models--were too small. Well, apparently Timex listens and the two small buttons are now combined into one larger one. Probably this was done years ago but I'm only now getting back into road work, so now I get to discover it. The perfect watch? Almost. I especially like this model as my eyes are not what they used to be and the oversized face makes it easier to read. The downside to this is that it also makes the crystal easier to scratch. That's always been an issue, but I can live with it. No, the real problem with this product is, was, and apparently ever shall be, the band. Now, it could be worse, it could be a resin band (like the old ones) that will crack and break within a couple of years, but no, this is a nylon and velcro wrap style which should be just dandy, but for three glitches: 1. it's too short 2. it's too narrow (gee whiz, Timex designers, it's an oversized watch, why not a matching oversized band?) and 3. it's still resin where it attaches to the actual watch. Now, I imagine it's probably less prone to breakage in how it's implemented, but if you should choose to replace it, I can see no obvious way of removing it short of cutting it off. Really? But these are minor complaints. I doubt it would be comfortable on anyone whose wrists are much bigger than my own, but replacement bands are everywhere, and this watch will keep time with style and it's brilliant at splits. Heck, it even functions admirably as a backup for my expensive stopwatches at our regular short track stock car events. For my money (and did I mention the price is wonderful?) the Ironman is still the best at what it does, and for what it can do.

Good hard use watch.
Color: Black/Silver-Tone
Review Calibration: 3 stars means it works as advertised, nothing special during use, and no amazing features. Higher stars mean better-than-expected performance and features. This is 5 stars because it is my favorite work/hard-use watch. I have been wearing one for years, and like all Timex watches, it can take a beating. I have to replace it when the band's ears get so damaged that they won't hold the band on. This has more to do with the plastic's lifespan than with a design issue. I am hard on watches. This watch normally lasts ne 7-10 years between replacements.

Typical Ironman quality
Color: Black/Silver-Tone
This is my fourth Timex Ironman watch. I own many watches, and prefer the Ironman for casual wear and sporting activities as well as swimming and snorkeling. I decided to replace an earlier model with this one rather than pay to change the battery. The Ironman has changed very little over the years since its introduction in the '80s, with the exception of cosmetic improvememnts and a larger display. I selected the "oversize" model as I was looking for a little more heft to this model. This watch fits the bill, not as chunky as my G-Shock. A pleasant surprise was the weight of the watch. This model is lightweight, another advantage over the G. It's larger than the typical Ironman model, but about the same weight. The band lacks the stiffness of some other Timex and Casio models, and is quite comfortable. Typical Ironman functions are unchanged, and the ability to "hide" various functions makes operation of the watch more efficient. There are three time zones, useful when traveling, as well as the usual chronograph/timer and alarm functions. I haven't worn the watch in the pool or ocean yet, but if experience is any guide, I expect no problems. I've never had an Ironman leak, whether during water sports or snorkeling. These are great watches for the money. I prefer 200 meter water resistance for this type of watch, but Timex has yet to build an Ironman 200m that doesn't overwhelm my wrist in weight and size. I'm not a big guy, and they are simply too large for my wrist. Looking forward to years of service with this watch. Definitely a good timepiece for the price.
