Paul enjoys the unpredictability of pulling and scraping paint against metal, as it creates incidental marks and a unique blend of colours. For the original artwork, he experimented with resin to give added fluidity and shine.
He explains: "I carefully blended the resin on the aluminium surface, creating atmospheric liquid fusions of light and dark in the evening sky. The river appears to glisten and move when light is reflected upon it. I also used thickly textured oil paint to depict the lights of the city skyline, generating unique interactions between glossy and matt surfaces.”
