This practice serves several important purposes: First, it helps maintain a consistent temperature in the hose, which reduces condensation (often called 'rainout') that can occur when warm humidified air meets cooler surfaces. Second, having the hose under the covers provides natural anchoring that prevents the mask from being pulled away from your face as you move during sleep. The weight and warmth of your bedding helps stabilize the hose, reducing mask leaks and improving therapy comfort. While some CPAP users prefer their hose outside the covers, our experience shows that under-cover placement generally provides better therapy outcomes in New Zealand conditions.
