Morus alba 'Pendula' , deze treurende witte moerbei 'Pendula' is een bladverliezende boom die een hoogte van 8 meter kan bereiken. Hij heeft een opgaande groeiwijze en een koepelvormige kroon met afhangende takken.

Het groene blad is groot en handvormige gelobd. De bladeren verkleuren in de herfst naar geel. In mei tot en met juni verschijnen er onopvallende geelgroene bloemen aan de boom. Na de bloei ontwikkelen zich eetbare, kleine groene tot rood verkleurde vruchten. De vruchten zijn rijp wanneer ze zwart van kleur zijn.

Morus alba 'Pendula' geeft de voorkeur aan een beschutte standplaats in de zon of halfschaduw. Hij groeit het best op iedere kalkrijke, vruchtbare, gedraineerde en licht zandbodem. Deze boom verdraagt een temperatuur tot -20 gr.C .
