Details

According to Roger Hickman Hoffmeister composed and published 34 string quartets between 1781 and 1806. The six Op.10 quartets were issued in Vienna by Torricella ca 1783. Christoph Torricella had arrived from Switzerland in the early 1770s and set himself up as an engraver and importer of musical editions. From 1781 onwards he began to issue his own editions including works by Haydn and Hoffmeister. The business did not flourish and by 1784 he was in serious financial difficulties. Torricella sold most of his remaining stock to Artaria in 1786 and thereafter ceased to trade. Ironically, it was Hoffmeister's growing success as a publisher which finally sounded the death knell for Torricella's enterprise.By the time Hoffmeister published this set of quartets he was already an experienced composer in the medium. Breitkopf advertised the Op.10 quartets, erroneously described as Op.9, along with a further 18 quartets, including the Op.7 set, in its thematic catalogue for the years 1782-1784 (Supp. XV). The Op.10 Quartets were dedicated to Monsieur Lazare de Somssich, described on the title page of Torricella's edition as "Secraitair du Cons. Roal locum tentential d'Hongrie a Presburg". Although modest in scope and emotional depth, all six works reveal Hoffmeister as a craftsman of refined sensibilities. They show a clear grasp of the conversational style of the genre familiar to us from the quartets of his great compatriot Haydn and in their beautiful scoring and easy lyricism a certain kinship with those of Mozart. This equality of part-writing is clearly alluded to in the works' original designation as Quatuors Concertantes and indeed Hoffmeister does share important thematic material between all four instruments.More impressive, however, is the manner in which he handles the non-melodic role of the lower parts, investing them with a myriad of interesting musical details. While not quite as imposing as the later Op.14 Quartets the present works are uniformly strong and together comprise an attractive and imaginatively structured set. Unlike the mature quartets of Haydn and Mozart these works favour a three movement cycle - and in one case, a pair of movements in the same key - over what is now seen as the four-movement norm. The six works were clearly conceived as a set and do not represent a haphazard grouping of compositions in the same genre. This is immediately apparent in the use of progressive tonalities to establish the internal order of the works in the set - C G D F B flat E flat - and, in spite of their obvious stylistic and technical similarities, in their variety of musical styles and structures. Three of the works style the slow movement Romance; four employ a Rondeau finale. One work, Op.10 No.5, opens with a slow movement and has only one other movement, an unheralded Rondeau, which includes an episode in a different meter. The two most unconventional movements are perhaps the finales of Op.10 No.3 and Op.10 No.6. The first of these is headed 'Menuettino" and consists of a binary theme, in the manner of a minuet, followed by three binary form episodes - the first beginning in the dominant and ending the tonic, the second in the parallel minor and the third in the tonic. A fourth episode cadences at the halfway mark in the relative minor before launching itself into an extended coda. The finale of Op.10 No.6, the two-movement, quartet is even stranger. It has something of the feel of a set of theme and variations except that each of the binary form 'variations' bears only a passing resemblance to the opening theme and does not adhere to the same underlying harmonic and tonal plan. There are, however, some organic links between sections and the repetition of the opening 'theme' at the end of the movements lends a nice sense of symmetry to this enterprising finale. The present edition is based on a copy of Torricella's print preserved in the library of the Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde, Steyr (M.S.30380). Torricella's print is a little slipshod in places, particularly in the placement of articulation marks and dynamics.Where these are confusing the editor has standardized the markings in the interests of clarity. Applied markings are indicated by the use of dotted slurs and brackets where appropriate. Obvious wrong notes have been corrected without comment; editorial emendations with no authority from the source are placed within brackets. Dianne James Allan Badley

Solid, grippy, and they don’t roll away!
Style: 10 Pound, Pair
I bought these because I’m finally trying to build a consistent home workout routine and didn't want to drop a fortune on name-brand weights. I’ve been using this 10lb pair for about a month now for everything from overhead presses to lunges, and honestly, they’re exactly what I was looking for. The Pros: • That Neoprene Grip: The coating is fantastic. Even when my hands get pretty sweaty halfway through a workout, I don’t feel like I’m going to drop them. It’s a much "softer" feel than cold metal or hard plastic. • The Hex Shape: This is a small detail that makes a huge difference. Since the ends are hexagonal, they don't roll across the floor when I set them down between sets. They also stay put if I’m using them for "renegade rows" or floor work. • Compact Size: They aren’t bulky. I can easily shove them under my bed or in the corner of the closet when I’m done. • No Weird Odor: I was worried they might smell like a tire factory (which happens with some rubber-coated weights), but these had almost no scent right out of the box. The Cons: • Handle Diameter: The handles are a little on the thicker side. I have medium-sized hands and it’s fine, but if you have very small hands, they might feel a bit chunky to wrap your fingers all the way around. • Color Scuffs: The navy blue looks great, but if you clank them together or drop them on concrete, the coating can scuff or show dust pretty easily. The Verdict: If you just need a reliable set of weights for HIIT, Pilates, or general strength training, these are a no-brainer. You're basically getting gym-quality equipment for a fraction of the price. I’ll probably be back for the 15lb set in a few months!

My Favorite Face Mask for Hydrated, Glowing Skin
Scent: Collagen, Size: 4 Count (Pack of 1)
I’ve tried a lot of face masks over the years, but the BIODANCE Bio-Collagen Real Deep Mask has easily become my favorite. Every time I use it, my skin feels incredibly hydrated, smooth, and refreshed, and the results last much longer than I expected from a single mask treatment. One of the things I love most about this mask is how deeply moisturizing it is. After wearing it overnight, my skin looks noticeably plumper and feels soft and nourished. Instead of just giving a temporary boost, I’ve found that the healthy glow lasts well beyond the next day. In my experience, my skin maintained a radiant, hydrated appearance for nearly two weeks after use, which is something I haven’t experienced with many other masks. The hydrogel material feels comfortable on the skin and stays in place well throughout the night. When I remove it in the morning, my skin looks brighter, more refreshed, and noticeably more hydrated. I appreciate that this mask feels like a true self-care treatment rather than just another skincare step. Whether I’m preparing for a special event or simply giving my skin some extra attention, this is the mask I consistently reach for. The fact that it comes in a multi-pack makes it even better because I always like having one available when my skin needs a boost. Overall, this is one of the few skincare products that I continue to repurchase because I genuinely notice a difference. If you’re looking for a mask that delivers intense hydration, plumping benefits, and a beautiful long-lasting glow, I highly recommend giving this one a try.I’m

Instant Glass Skin!
Scent: Collagen, Size: 4 Count (Pack of 1)
I’ve tried SO many sheet masks and this collagen one is genuinely one of the best. My skin looked insanely hydrated, smooth, and glowy after just one use. It fit my face really well, stayed soaked the entire time, and didn’t leave that sticky feeling afterward. The next morning my skin still felt soft and looked brighter. Perfect before events or whenever your skin needs a reset. Definitely repurchasing!!

Absolutely amazing masks!!!
Scent: Collagen, Size: 4 Count (Pack of 1)
These masks are beyond amazing! I use one once a week and leave it on overnight after completing my p.m. skincare routine and wake up to smooth, plump, moisturized, and absolutely glowing!! I have extremely sensitive skin and eyes and these masks do not bother me at all. No burning in my eyes and no irritation of the skin. My deep wrinkles seem a lot less pronounced and some of my more fine lines almost disappear for 24 hours after using this mask. They are simple to use and adhere to the skin perfectly even after applying serums and moisturizers. Once the mask is completely absorbed and becomes clear it peels of the skin with ease. Based on the quality of these masks I am shocked by the low price, it is such a great value for your money. This Mask has become a staple in my skincare routine and I will continue to purchase these!!

instantly more hydrated + glowy skin
Scent: Collagen, Size: 4 Count (Pack of 1), Scent: Collagen, Size: 4 Count (Pack of 1)
I love this mask. It’s one of those products you can actually see a difference with right after using it. It really helps with: 1. Deep hydration – my skin feels plump and moisturized, not dry or tight 2. Smoother texture – it softens everything and makes my skin feel really smooth 3. Glow/brightness – gives that fresh, healthy glow without looking greasy How I use it: I apply it on clean skin (usually at night), leave it on as directed, and let it fully absorb before removing. I like using it when my skin feels dull or dry and want a quick reset. Overall, it’s super easy to use and makes my skin look more refreshed every time. Definitely a go-to for me.
